Fabric · TIMIȘOARA
Traian Square · Piața Traian
A starting point for exploring Fabric, where Timișoara has a different rhythm from the squares of the old fortress district.

Fabric’s historic centre
The square’s beginnings date to the first half of the eighteenth century. Earlier buildings were more modest; the palaces that now define its edges transformed the area around the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
What deserves a closer look
Notice the Serbian Church of Saint George and the surrounding palaces, then follow the streets leaving the square. Compare façade decoration and proportions with Union Square. The postcard on this page is historic and does not show current construction or access conditions.
Check construction access
Fabric is part of urban regeneration projects. Check recent City Hall notices and signs on site before your walk. Continue towards Millennium Church and 3 August 1919 Boulevard only using accessible pedestrian routes.
